Until recently I had a normal men's hairdo which took me about 2 minutes to blow dry and brush in the mornings. At my wife's encouraging (or insistence, to be more precise), I recently got a more trendy and hip haircut-one that looks perpetually messy.
Now, rather than 2 minutes to blow dry and brush, it takes 2 people, multiple products and a variety of hair-sculpting utensils to refashion my hair into what it looks like when I get out of bed, only wet. Can someone please explain this to me?
Did I mention that it took my new stylist 2 sessions over the course of 2 weeks to cut my hair just right so it would look properly messy?
In fact (and I'm being totally honest and 100% serious), last Saturday I got out of bed, put on a cap, and went to pick up breakfast tacos. Upon my return, after I had removed my cap, my wife said, "Your hair looks good today."
To which I replied, "I haven't done anything to it."
Then, to my complete dismay (and horror), she said, laughingly, "I know."
What's a man to do?

Times really have changed huh! I would think it would get easier as you get used to it being messy...but you will still need the hair products, lol.
One time, a friend of mine forgot his 'hair glue' and it was such a wrong-kind-of-mess that I had to lend him one of my hair creams, which in abundance actually relaxes and stiffens the hair. He cringed - but he was desperate. His hair smelt extra good all day though, lol
Now you know how we women feel!
Actually, my hubby has grown some side chops, after much prompting... so he can't just shave all over his face now. He has to trim his chops and be careful to make sure they are perfectly aligned.
Heaps of people have commented on his new look, and it does slim down his face a bit! He looks really cool!
No 1 clipper cut will mean true wash and go, either that or baldness. :)
CS, times certainly have changed. Shouldn't dealing with hair get easier the less you have?
Living Journey, maybe the chops will come next year. I need to figure out how to do this for the time being. :)
Mulled Vine, true, but I'm not quite there yet. Thanks for the advice though.
