Sometimes I Envy My Dog

| 03 February 2009

One of our dearest friends once said that if he ever came back in another life, he would want to come back as one of our dogs.

It was said jokingly, and we took it that way, but sometimes I wonder if he was really on to something.

Oliver, our Jack Russell Terrier, eats well (very well, corn allergy aside - you try finding a cornless dog food), sleeps in a comfortable bed (ours), naps a lot, unashamedly walks around all day in the buff (he hates clothes - even fashionable clothes), and has a great medical plan (us, his co-pay for his hip surgery was zilch, we covered 100%), and, after 10 kids and umpteen grandkids, his legacy is assured.

In fact, his insurance even paid to get him clipped because of his virility (or, rather, had to pay...he's a lover not a fighter after all).

Oliver loves everybody. He's taken in stray cats, he lets Libby (our seven-month-old) pull his ears (both at the same time), and he just loves all the more. I think we could all learn a few lessons from Oliver.

Now, if he could only master the whole "fetch" thing.

Lol, I absolutely see the advantages when you put it like that!
